Simple Things

Laundry on a clothesline makes me happy.

I’m not sure why. Maybe it triggers happy childhood moments? Maybe it reminds me of our Yelapa days, when we hung most of our laundry out to dry (including our personal clothes and linens for 8 guest houses)? Maybe it is remembering my many moments putting cloth diapers out to dry? Maybe it is just the quasi-trance inducing, zen-like moments of hanging anything out on a clothesline?

We have the perfect clothesline in our tiny backyard: it is retractable, which makes it even better. Do you remember this from way back when:

Thanks to life for giving us an old dryer so we had to use the sun for a little while…until a new machine came in. The new machine is fancy and all….but, I think I like the sun better.

Oh wait, watch and/or smell the sky….it is about to rain…I’ll go grab everything and throw it in the fancy new machine.
