Getting cold feet

I’ve never been a big fan of winter and I’m not too excited about this one. Apparently skipping winter for an entire year was not a good idea, as it only strengthened my distaste for the cold.

It appears that Mia may have the same affliction. I am willing to admit the possibility that she is mimicking my opinion of the season, though I do try to keep my negative thoughts of the cold weather to myself. She strongly dislikes wearing pants or tights (or hose or anything else I try to call them to get her to put them on) and she only wants to wear flip flops (she has four pairs!) and dresses. And this preference is in full force, regardless of the weather. Highs today and tomorrow are in the 40s; lows tonight in the teens. Hooray.

Oh well. At least we have  this little sunshine to brighten up the house.

We’re still having fun, despite the cold weather. It does help that we live in the sunshine state (over 300 days of sunshine every year!) and have a large diurnal temperature variations, so we can enjoy below freezing temps on the way to school/work in the morning and still revel in midday temps in the 50’s and 60’s. Here are a few pics of what is happening in our lives lately.

Good times but, man, it is cold! I take solace in planning our next winter escape (sadly, that may be NEXT winter…SIGH) and our eventual, quasi-permanent winter avoidance tactics. And now I’m going to turn up the heater.
