I love coincidences such as this: You’ve never even HEARD or SEEN a particular word before (in your entire life!), then you learn/hear/read/understand it for the first time. Later, somewhere, somehow and over the following days, the word appears time and again, and you’re thinking “How have I missed this word before? Was it here all along, bouncing around, escaping my ears, eyes, and understanding? Did I just not hear/see/understand it?” Sometimes the same sort of little coincidences happen with other things, such as songs (especially for me, with all things purportedly from “pop culture”, of which I am often and shamelessly unaware). So here is an example of that…
“Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof!” That little excerpt is from a song that I had never heard until a few days ago. Someone, some friend posted a link on FB. It was with some byline like “Check out this great kids’ choir!” or some such thing. Of course, we are all overwhelmed by excessive requests to WATCH THIS and we often ignore most of those requests, but for some reason this one caught my eye, and I clicked on it. Check out what I saw: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/17/school-choir-happy-pharell_n_4978941.html.
I thought Mia would appreciate the kids singing and dancing so I saved it and let her watch it later. She loved it and asked to see it again and again, and asked a dozen questions about who was singing, what they were saying, and what everyone was doing, etc.
Then, just one or two days later, some friends posted a link to this video, which includes amazing aerial photos of our current hometown and THAT song: https://youtu.be/2Djm5CKkkyM. The bird’s eye views are stunning and provide just a little glimpse of Yelapa’s geography…although I must say that their behavior at the end of their stunts is a little too egregious for my taste (even before I was a Mama!).
Regardless of coincidences, egregious behavior, or otherwise, that song fits the aerial-Yelapa-eye-candy perfectly. That song has managed to make me smile on more than one occasion. On almost as many occasions, that song has prompted dancing around the house. And that song has been stuck in my head for at least a week. My favorite line is this one: “Clap your hands if you feel like a room without a roof!”
I can’t leave you without a photo so here is one of my favorite people in the world, and she is looking very HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!
Hope some of this stuff makes you happy. Cheerio!
