Little Bean’s first stuff!

We now have baby stuff in the house! If you read my previous blog, you know I am a bit apprehensive about all the stuff we’ll be acquiring.  How, you may wonder, can anyone be scared of this stuff?

Little Bean's first things: a onesie and a blanket

Sun hat: essential for living in New Mexico at 5,000+ feet above sea level and for trips to Mexico

How cute are those things? And, all organic! Many thanks to two of Little Bean’s biggest fans for his/her first gifts!! We love them!!

Also yesterday, we went to my favorite local store, Baby Bear(the only source in NM for cloth diapers), to check out their cloth diaper selection.  Aaron and I have already been there once, when we had a great lesson on cloth diapers from Stella, the owner.  There are so many options for cloth diapers, it can be quite confusing.  We still haven’t chosen our type and brand, but we have narrowed it down to two: the Bum Genius pocket diaper and the GroVia hybrid diaper.  I came home with one of each so we could continue our evaluation at home and (hopefully sometime before Little Bean arrives) make a decision.  Here they are:

Bum Genius on L and GroVia on R

Somehow, this whole parent thing seems more official now that we have acquired stuff.  Isn’t that interesting?  And despite my fear of excessive stuff, I have to admit it is kinda fun!  Actually, this reminds me of my school days…believe it or not, I was the dorky kid who eagerly awaited the school supply list then couldn’t wait to go out and get all the prerequisite stuff (shocking, isn’t it?).  I absolutely LOVED getting my school stuff and thought it was the greatest thing ever.  I should have known this would be fun, too.  Overwhelming at times (perhaps because we’re responsible for a living person and not just getting good grades), but fun nevertheless.

So, I guess we still have a few more purchases to make before we’re ready…but we’re off to a good start.
