We had our third prenatal visit today. It was “short” for a typical visit with your home-birthing midwife: only 1 hour. Our midwife reports that all is well and the little bean is progressing nicely, and my uterus is growing just as it should, along with my belly.
I have to say one of my favorite things about this experience so far is that we don’t have to go to the hospital or clinic for our prenatal visits. Most of the time, our midwife comes to our house (although we will go to her office for some of the visits, this is mostly because of insurance purposes and that is another topic). In my humble opinion, hospitals are for sick people and pregnancy is not a disease.
Of course, there are some women who have difficult pregnancies and need medical intervention. However, that is the exception, not the norm…despite what the technology-infatuated medical machine will tell you.
The little bean is moving around more every day. He/she has several active periods throughout the day and night. Much to his delight, Aaron has been able to feel him/her moving around almost every day. (There was about a week between when I first felt movement and when Aaron could actually feel it.) Soon, I’ll need to add a category called “Little Bean Status”…but I’ll probably wait until we cut the umbilical cord for that. 🙂
